Saturday, August 19th at the Great Wayne County Fair
We have 5 tents full of local history, demonstrations, heritage music, entertainment and reenactors.
Come stroll down History Alley for 6 hours of historic demonstrations, live entertainment, kids programs, and family ancestry discussion. This event is only on Saturday, August 19, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Family Fun Day activities are listed below.

Under the Big Tent
- 12 pm – Towpath Volunteer Fife & Drum Corp
- 1 pm – Don Dwyer and Civil War Music
- 2 pm – Perry Ground, Haudenosaunee Storyteller
- 3 pm – “Punch and Judy” Puppet Show

Sights and Sounds: Lessons in History
10 am to 1 pm – Ganondagan, Corn Husk Dolls, 2 Programs
1 pm to 4 pm – Genesee Country Village: 19th Century Games, Objects from History, & Little Red Schoolhouse
Heritage Crafts & Things
See hands-on demonstrations of homestead arts such as rug hooking, soap and basket making, old fashion wood working, blacksmithing, tin punch, Granny Square Stitch bed coverings, spinning and rag rugs.
Local Ancestors: Historic Displays
Learn about Wayne County ancestors who were part of the 111th NY Volunteer Infantry or local active Women Suffragettes. Talk to Daughters of the Union Veterans and learn to do your own family history research.
Speakers from Our Past
Meet many characters from historic Wayne County such as Captain Garlock, Civil War Dr. Les Buell, Suffragette Emma Sweet, Abolitionists, Hendrick Wempe, an Irish Canal worker, an 18th Century Farmer, a 19th Century Stateman, and visit a soldiers’ encampment.
